Lease Your Texas Land for Hunting

Texas is the epicenter of lease hunting in America. Nearly all of the state is privately owned and there is very little public land, so leasing is not just an option here: it is how most Texans hunt.

You set the price, the dates and the rules. We list your land, take the bookings and handle the money.

Hunting in Texas

What hunters look for in Texas

The state's whitetail herd is the biggest in the country, and hunters travel from all over to chase heavy South Texas bucks, Hill Country deer and the exotic species that roam many ranches. A good lease is the foundation of a Texas season, whether it is deer ground for the fall, dove fields in September or duck access along the coast.

The brush country of South Texas is known for trophy bucks, the Hill Country around the Edwards Plateau for its deer numbers, the Rolling Plains and Panhandle for quail and mule deer, and the Pineywoods and Gulf Coast for eastern species and waterfowl.

When hunters want to be on your land

Archery deer typically opens in early October, with the general firearm season running from early November into January, split by region. Dove season opens at the start of September, spring Rio Grande turkey runs in the spring, and coastal and Central Flyway waterfowl hunt through winter. Regulations differ widely by county and zone.

Seasons, licenses and regulations are set by the state and change every year; treat this as background, not official information. Some states also have rules for landowners who lease hunting rights.

Landowner questions

Leasing your Texas land, answered

Who would be hunting my land in Texas?
A HuntingLeaseUSA member with a paid membership, booking under their own name, not an anonymous reply to a classified ad. In Texas, the hunters who lease private land are mainly deer, dove and hog hunters. On a season lease, one party holds the ground for the season, bound by your rules.
How do I get paid for a hunting lease in Texas?
The hunter pays us when they book, so you never chase anyone for money. We keep our fee and pay your share to your bank account on our regular payout run after the month the access period starts. There is no fee to be listed.
What about liability when hunters are on my Texas land?
The hunter who books signs the Access Agreement, with your rules in it, and the Liability Waiver at checkout, before they pay. Check with your own insurer or attorney about what applies to a landowner who leases hunting rights in Texas.
